From 2006 to 2009 I worked with a simple system of audio feedback where a microphone was put in a room with a PA and gently turned up until feedback started. I used a bank of filters to try to control the pitch of the feedback and get multiple tones sounding simultaneously. The really fun part about the system though was collaborating with performers playing acoustic instruments. The feedback and acoustic instrument would interfere with one another, pushing and pulling sounds around the space and creating kinds of delightful psycho-acoustic phenomena.

Mike Hanf and I explore the way feedback behave s in a tiny room. Recorded in Charleston, SC 2007.
